The landscape of the yacht market in Greece is as follows:

  • There are 170,000 yachts in Greece (2019), of which 6,109 are professional.

  • The average annual growth rate of the sector in 2014-2018 was 3.4%.

  • The average annual revenue in 2018 was €433.4 million.

FAQs

  • According to George Vernicos, Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) secretary general and tourism representative to the European Economic and Social Committee, Greece can become a global leader in luxury yachting in 2022.

Vernicos said Greece has already been recognized as a global force in 2020 and 2021, leading the way in terms of the number of luxury boat charters worldwide.

Greece has the highest rate of luxury boat (over 20 meters) charters for the summer of 2022 compared to other global destinations. There are currently 170,000 yachts of all sizes in Greece: 6,500 professional vessels, with about 200 to 300 expected to be added to the Greek fleet yearly.

  • Because the current charter leisure boards have a length between 10 to 40 meters, the proximity of the crew with the guests is inevitable. Thus, the crew, i.e., skippers and hosts/hostesses, should learn to communicate effectively, listen and foster collaboration, and enjoy a happy and safe journey.

  • We would like to let professionals from your industry speak.
